Since Howl had been coming to this bar it had been the same old dingy place. The only thing that changed was the water marks on the ceiling got bigger and dust got thicker on the cheesy decorations on the shelves around the place. The windows were usually curtained, and when they weren't they were too dirty to let light in, so nothing had faded from sunlight.
Howl sat at one of the booths, back against the wall, one leg bent up and the other laid out flat along the bench. He sipped on a bottle of no-name-brand cola, and when the bottle rim wasn't to his lips a cigarette hung loosely from between his lips. He loved that the owners didn't have a no smoking rule like the rest of the damn world did now.
Howl could usually be found here, known by name to all the regulars. Last time he had graced the bar with his gorgeous face, he had found a beautiful girl.
Would he be so lucky to day? Gods he hoped so.

The week had been obnoxiously long for Meiying Okinawa. The teachers finally decided to be difficult about her scandelous clothing, and the administrators had been just as harsh. It was incredibly lame, and Meiying didn't like it at all. Not only had the teachers and administrators given her a hard time, but Michio was being even more...Michio-like than usual. Talli had since disappeared from his life and Meiying couldn't help but rejoice. But Michio hadn't had the same idea. He had pretty much locked himself in the house refusing to leave. Meiying really couldn't stand to be around her brother like that, because his mood affected her mood. It was one of those weird twin things.
So in a last ditch effort to improve her week, Meiying had decided to go to a bar. Not a club, a bar. She knew most males hung out there, and she knew that it would score her major compliments, and her ego would be boosted to it's normal level. Even compliments from strange greasy men would be better than sitting around the house with Michio and being depressed. Her shirt was cut unusually low, and the mini-skirt she wore hugged the curves of her butt perfectly. It wasn't one of her sluttier outfits, but it was definitely enough to make the obvious suggestion that she wanted something more than a good conversation. Because good conversation was nice at first, but that wasn't enough to keep Meiying interested for long.
Meiying pulled up in her cute little white sports car. Ryo was small enough that everything was in walking distance, but Meiying didn't do the whole 'walking down the street' thing. There were too many creepsters on the street. Stepping out of the car, Meiying removed her sunglasses, tossing them on the driver seat. She slammed the door, locking it behind her. Meiying slowly made her way to the door of the bar's entrance. She smiled seductively at the man at the front door who just stared at her with wide eyes. Opening the door, Meiying was met with the smell of cigarettes and beer. And oh how that scent brought back memories. It was pleasant to Meiying. Standing in the doorway, Meiying scanned the bar for anybody at least half-way good-looking. Her eyes caught on one of the boys sitting in the booth. But she didn't walk over. She never gave herself away that easily. Instead she made her way to the bar, sitting on one of the stools with perfect posture. "Water please." Her voice was light, and her eyes peered back to the boy in the booth.
Outfit!

It had been a quiet day at the bar. Few familiar faces had passed through the door. Each time the small bell above the door gingled, Howl's eyes lifted to look. Deep down he really wanted to see Lexi enter once more.
The bell chimmed, and howl's eyes shifted to the door. They didn't turn back down as a rather good looking girl passed through. He had seen her around town before, and school. Not once had he taken her for the type to come into a dingy place like this. Most of the people that came in here were older, and not so easy on the eyes.
Her gaze had trailed to him once, like a casual glance. When she sat down at the bar, after ordering a water, her glance fell to him again, he was taken slightly off guard by it. Howl was a good looking guy, but most girls wouldn'y look twice at some one known to be a stoner like him.
"You come into a bar, and order water?" he said aloud to her. "Strange drink for a location like this." he joked.

Meiying's head turned away from the boy a moment later, as the bartender placed a clear glass of water in front of her. "Thank you." Her voice was laced with some kind of lust, but that's how she talked to just about everyone. But apparently it took the bartender by surprise because while walking to refill someone elses beer mug, he almost tripped but caught himself before he did a total face plant. When he came back up the man's face was red, but Meiying didn't say anything. Instead, she just smiled at herself in the mirror that hung on the other side of the bar behind where the bartender had been standing a moment earlier.
If possible, Meiying's back straightened even more as she heard someone address her. Well not her specifically, but the person was talking to whoever had ordered water. And judging by the looks at the men at the bar and the looks of the drinks in their hands, Meiying probably took the prize for being the first one to order water there...quite possibly ever.
Turning around slowly, Meiying's eyes fell on the boy who she had seen earlier. She hadn't really recognized him before, and she still didn't really. She had seen him before, but hadn't heard much about him. And unless someone had told her something about someone, their name and clique wouldn't usually stick. Meiying smiled brightly at him ."Perhaps." Meiying glanced from the water that sat in front of her, and then back to the boy. "But I wouldn't want to give myself away too easily."
